This year's VCSEL Day is organised by the Photonics Group at the Institute of Physics, Lodz University of Technology. The Photonics TGroup has been working with VCSELs almost since the beginning of its existence. We are engaged in both simulation work (developing our own software for modelling the physical phenomena occurring in semiconductor lasers) and developing a laboratory where we characterise VCSELs.

Our interests include.

• GaAs-based VCSELs for telecommunications applications,
• VCSELs incorporating sub-wavelength gratings,
• VCSELs made of nitride materials and emitting UV, blue and green light,
• arrays of VCSELs,
• VCSELs with non-cylindrical symmetry.

In addition to VCSELs, we also design photonic structures, edge lasers and their arrays and QCL lasers.

This year's conference is organised by Prof. Tomasz Czyszanowski, team leader of the Photonics Group, and Dr. Magdalena Marciniak, together with the entire Photonics Group.
